Stock Market Today

In spite of poor global indications and a persistent outflow of foreign funds, Indian equities closed Thursday’s trading with solid gains after rising from the day’s lows. The wide 50-share NSE Nifty50 held the critical 17,500 support, closing at 17,563.95 with a gain of 51.70 points, while the benchmark 30-share BSE Sensex Today 21 Oct 2022 finished at 59202.90, up 95.71 points. Nifty Bank, on the other hand, dropped 273 points, or 0.68 percent, to settle at 40099.

Nifty50

Dow Jones Today

As investors tracked earnings and economic data on Thursday, the stock market was attempting to recover.

Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average have risen 128 points, or 0.5%. As the market took a break following a two-day rise to start the week, the indices fell on Wednesday. The indexes are currently attempting to extend their rise. For most of the year, investors had sold shares to raise money.

DAX Index

In response to further worries about inflation and economic growth, the benchmark DAX index for the German stock market fell even more.

The forty-scrip DAX index is now down 0.76 percent over the last 24 hours, trading at $12,644.00. Trading for the day has been between 12,628.42 and 12,698.81. In the 40-scrip index, just 6 scrips are trading above the Wednesday levels.

Nasdaq Index

Nasdaq Composite was down 149.17 points or 1.38 percent, trading at 10,623.20. In the midst of the ongoing earnings season, the markets were trading weakly.

S and P 500

Futures for the S&P 500 are up 0.2%. S&P 500 was trading at 3,675.12, down by 44.86 points or 1.21 percent.

SGX Nifty

The Singapore Exchange’s Nifty futures traded 120.5 points, or 0.69 percent, down at 17,383.50, indicating that Dalal Street will begin the day on a down note.

Technical indications indicate that the Nifty 50 must maintain a price above 17,442 points in order to advance towards the 17,650 and 17,777 levels, with supports around 17,350 and 17,250.

Crude Oil Futures

Early Asian trading on Thursday saw a mixed start for oil prices as investors weighed weaker demand forecasts against concern over tightening supplies.

By 00:10 GMT, the price of Brent oil futures for December settlement had dropped 28 cents, or 0.3%, to $92.13 per barrel. WTI, or West Texas Intermediate, for November delivery in the United States, increased 34 cents, or 0.4%, to $85.89 a barrel on Thursday.

Gold Silver Price

According to HDFC Securities, the unfavorable global trends on Thursday caused the price of gold in the national capital to drop by Rs 66 to Rs 50,516 per 10 kilos. The price of the precious metal for 10 grams had previously been fixed at Rs 50,582. A kilogram of silver, however, increased by Rs 101 to Rs 56,451 from Rs 56,350. Silver was up at USD 18.46 per ounce while gold was trading in the red at USD 1,630.8 per ounce on the global market.

Overall World Stock Market

Asian markets finished down on Thursday, with the Hang Seng index in Hong Kong plunging more than 3% to its lowest point since May 2009. The Nikkei 225 in Japan fell more than 250 points or 0.92 percent. The Kospi in South Korea fell 0.86 percent. The S&P 500 dropped 0.67 percent overnight on Wall Street. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 0.85 percent and the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 0.33 percent.

Investors’ concerns over ongoing inflation and disappointing earnings reports from BE Semiconductor and Nokia are causing European stock markets to trade lower. The majority of the STOXX 600’s sectors are in the red.
