Motivation is the term derived from the word ‘motive’ which means needs, desires, wants or drives within the individuals. Motivation is the procedure that initiates, guides, and maintains goal-oriented behaviours. It is what causes you to act, whether it is getting your aim.

What is motivation?

Motivation is a force which pushes a character to overcome conflicts or is a set of forces that push people to behave in a certain way.

Why Motivation?

I’ve selected an answer for this at the start of the article, anyway, we need to be motivated to always perform well at work, and develop a better relationship with parents, siblings, friends, wife etc.

How can we be motivated?

I cannot answer this question precisely because motivation varies from person to person. What motivates one person may only make another person furious. So, we have to comprehend what makes us motivated & do things that make us motivated. If you are a good reader read biographies of personalities who have made it big, and watch our inspiring & motivating songs/movies/series. Always be optimistic, and move with positive-minded individuals.

You can make your hobbies by doing motivating activities. I made a New Year’s resolution to read some biopics or non-fiction books for this year & I make it a point that I will find one new motivational story each month. Wake up & read 10-15 pages before even having breakfast. I wake up by reading some pages daily. Also, you can read one or two motivational quotes daily before starting your regular work like:

  • Fortune prefers the bold
  • Failure is not the end of the road, but victory is delayed
  • Success doesn’t come to you, you go through it
  • The road to success is lined with many attractive parking spaces

This psychologically helps me to stay inspired the whole day. 

Another important element for motivation is to lead a disciplined life. Life discipline counts a lot for motivation, following specialities will help you to raise your energy & keeps you motivated,

Plan Yourself For Motivation

Why do you like to motivate yourself? Actually, just responding to that question fully can be one of the better ways to get your daily motivation. Below are seven better ways that have been proven to work for others. Chances are, some of them will perform for you too.

 1. Explain your plans. 

Find somebody that listens well, and tell them what you want to do. If it is something that you actually want, this will nearly always get you motivated. Even, if you can not find anyone to explain your plan, explain your plan to yourself. How are you going to perform your plan? What is the strategy you going to follow? 

 2. Stimulate desire 

Imagine the rewards of your effort undoubtedly. Imagination motivates many to sign up for get-rich-instantaneous plans. Good salesmen can have you living in your fantasised dream home in minutes, and you’ll feel motivated to do anything to make it true. Just discover to be your own salesman.

 3. Use pain

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) instructs you to link pain with not acting. If you imagine a scene of your kids sitting in jail for drug use – that might motivate you to have that discussion you’ve been avoiding. Linking pleasure and rewards to acting is only half of the procedure. Recognize to link pain to not acting.

 4. Develop a true interest in Motivation

If you have no interest at all, it might indicate you need to do something else, but if it’s just a task you dislike, connect it clearly in your mind to the greater goal. I don’t like to drive, but when I remember those peaks I’m going to, I get motivated to drive.

 5. Create Motivation energy

Coffee can help for a while, but one way or another, you require to have some energy to motivate yourself. Exercise, sleep well and watch out for sugary foods – the sugar blues will destroy your motivation.

 6. Have the correct mental state

It’s irregular to be depressed and motivated. Determine some of your negative feelings, and you’ll have more motivation. Another way is to do your necessary work when you are in a better mood.

 7. Make any little step

Dedicate to raking up one bag of leaves, and soon you’ll want to finish the yard. Any small step towards your goals creates acceleration. Making your self-confidence so strong.

You have seven simple ways now, but you have to actually use them, so how do you get motivated to do that? You have to figure that one out by yourself. Humour, in the course, can be a good motivator. Laughing often breaks up the feeling of being devastated. There’s your eighth way to motivate yourself.

How to Avoid Demotivation

So many of us are demotivated to accomplish anything. Such individuals are not enthusiastic about anything. They don’t want to work towards their goal. Nobody motivates them to work. Why is it so? Why many of us are not motivated? What is wrong?

We think in different ways and our thinking is decided by many aspects. Some are known and some are unknown. The known aspects are – thinking, circumstances, early upbringing, living style, culture, family support, friends, own intelligence etc. Our thoughts and our mental makeup are also decided by many aspects that are yet not known. Two persons of identical upbringing may be facing a similar situation, but respond in opposite ways? there are so many whys about the human mind that it is very difficult to determine what may occur.  

Coming back to the main question – why are some of us totally demotivated? There is no straightforward answer. Can anything be done to propel such individuals towards work? Can one do anything to make them passionate about anything, so that they begin working towards it?  

Take your own example. You are motivated to do one task but totally demotivated by something else. A mathematician may get very enthusiastic looking at a Math problem, but remain untouched by the greatest pieces of music? Why? The musician acts precisely opposite or may get equally excited by maths problems and music. Why? Our mind is a complicated structure, about which we ourselves don’t know much. How many of us can proclaim to know about our own minds? They may know about their abilities and disabilities, their likes and dislikes, etc. but can they predict their own reaction to a situation? very difficult. 

If at any time, you witness that a friend of yours is getting demotivated about life,  try to inspire him/her as much as you can. Even if you are physically away from your friend you can send him inspirational ecards and tell him to download motivational screensavers and wallpapers. To motivate everyone who needs a boost using this technique of motivation.
