Overall World Stock Market

Due to the uncertainty surrounding whether President Xi Jinping’s new leadership team will prioritize economic development in China, where the onshore yuan completed the domestic session with its worst close since late 2007, Asian stocks found it difficult to gain ground.

The STOXX 600 was up 0.1% at 1100 GMT as European stock indices began higher but found it difficult to maintain gains (.STOXX).

The MSCI European Index (.MSER) was up 0.2% after retreating from a 5-week high earlier in the session, while the MSCI global stock index (.MIWD00000PUS), which measures equities in 47 nations, was flat on the day (.MSER).

The European stock market’s mood was also helped by certain profit results that exceeded forecasts, with Swiss bank UBS (UBSG.S) among those who did so.
